One Breath at a Time

Hello Everyone,

This week we read up to pg 131 Exercise: Speaking the Truth.

We talked about Right Speech and speaking only what is true, in a timely manner and only if useful and kind. And how difficult it can be.

Share an experience where you struggled with this and perhaps how mindfulness or recovery has shifted that for you.

For me, I was often guilty of exaggerating and catastrophizing everything, I wanted to make an impact or justify myself and so took great liberties with the actual truth of the story. I also found that a lot of what I said was just complaining and didn't need to be said at all. I still struggle to keep quiet when it's not useful or untrue, but I'm much better at it. I try to pause before I speak and consider my response in the space of the breath. I'm a work in progress, and will probably always be as this is a continual practice.

What about you?

I’m practicing speaking my truth. You have your truth and it may not match my truth. We all have our own truth. Nobody is wrong. Perspective is different for everyone.
