One Breath at a Time

Hi everyone, This week wqe read up to Part Three so on July 29th we will begin Step Ten, p207. Just a reminder that there is no book group next week on the 22nd, as I'll be away in COsta RIca!!!

This week we talked about forgiveness and living amends and making amends to ourselves. So here is this week's discussion question.

How well have you forgiven yourself for your past mistakes before recovery, or even for your mistakes in recovery? Kevin says "the entire path of sobriety can be seen as an amends to ourselves." p293 Have you considered your recovery as an amends to yourself?

For me, I used to think that I only hurt myself in my addiction but didn't consider myself worthy of amends or forgiveness, It has taken quite a lot of both spiritual work and step work to come to a place of feeling like no one is more deserving of my own forgiveness than me, but it is something I can forget at any moment. So I do practices around self compassion and self forgiveness on a regular basis. For me, step 10 is very helpful with that.

What about you?

Thank you. I consider my living amends forgiveness to myself and others. I am aware I can't take back what happened in the past and I can make better for today. I am living my best life one day at a time. Trying to be the best person possible. Doing my inventory at night make me realize where I can do and be better tomorrow. Great meeting.
